When working with JavaScript to manipulate content on a webpage, you may come across the properties innerHTML, textContent, and innerText. While they all deal with modifying content, it’s important to understand their differences and choose the appropriate one based on your use case.

innerHTML

The innerHTML property allows you to get or set the HTML content within an element. It returns a string containing all the HTML markup inside the element, including any child elements. Here’s an example:

element.innerHTML = 'New content'; // Set the HTML content

textContent

The textContent property, on the other hand, returns the text content of an element, including the text of its descendants. It disregards any HTML markup and treats everything as plain text. Here’s an example:

Since textContent treats all content as plain text, it’s useful when you want to manipulate or retrieve only the textual content of an element without considering any formatting or HTML structure.

innerText

The innerText property is similar to textContent as it also returns the text content of an element, including descendants. However, there is a subtle difference: innerText considers the styling and visibility of elements, meaning it only returns the text that is visibly rendered on the screen. Here’s an example:

console.log(element.innerText); // Get the visible text content

element.innerText = 'New visible text content'; // Set the visible text content

Due to its consideration of styling and visibility, innerText is typically used when you want to retrieve or modify the text content of an element in a way that respects its visual rendering.
